Conditions:
What is Fascia? Is it becoming an “organism” in its own right? Some Researchers believe that it holds the answers to eradicating “chronic pain” and autoimmune conditions…
What it is and what can we do generally to help?
Fascia is the connective tissue around your muscles, organs, tendons and ligaments. It appears as a white fibrous matter that’s extremely flexible and sticky covering the muscles with a ‘gloop’. Fascia is multi-layered and houses the neurology of the body and the fascia has to “slide and glide” to ensure that the body stays healthy without any nerve impingements.
There are three types of Fascia; Superficial, Deep fascia and Visceral Fascia.
- 1. Superficial Fascia is directly under the skin
- 2. Deep fascia wraps around muscles and organs and connects them altogether.
- 3. Visceral Fascia lines the body cavity defining organs.
There is a range of issues that can be associated and attached to Fascia;
The issue of “Fascia dysfunction” occurs when the body becomes run down and the auto-immune system depletes allowing illness to take over,
There is also an issue of “Damaged Fascia” where the connective tissues become altered by “Paniculosis” (microscopic oedema within the interstellar structure of the Fascia), through physical trauma, clogging the fascia sheets and impinging the nerves
Within the interstellar structure of the fascia tissue there is water retention and this allows the “slide and glide” element of the Fascia function.
Through our range of techniques, we have capabilities to relax, drain, release and ease any tight or strained Fascia.
What Fascia Disorder causes:
- Muscle tightness (risk of strain or pull)
- Fibromyalgia symptoms
- Organ Function Restriction
- Sciatica – and other nerve impingements
History:
First founded as a concept in the 19th century by anatomist Erasmus Wilson naming it tissue. More recently it has been discovered to be the centre of lifestyle and health and could be suggested to be a sensory organ. It has also been founded as potentially the new way tackle immune dysfunction and more commonly in our patients; chronic pain.
Fascia is mostly overlooked in the medical industry as issues are mainly focused on organ or muscle causation, however the CiONE Wellness Centre Team has analysed this though past research and own archives of clients to understand Fascia’s large impact on pain especially in pelvic pain, which remains to be one of our biggest intakes in patients to date.
Our involvement:
Through our treatments, usually involved in removal of excess fluid (Paniculosis), which builds around tight muscles and tendons – we can release tightness of the fascia surrounding vital mechanics of the body and sometimes and even break excess fascia down in situations of inflammatory connectivity. Our Holistic methods of Eastern culture can also be used to help Fascia dysfunction treatment and more can be shown on this through our website or by having a “consultation”.
We also recognise Fascia, plainly, as a vital construct to Human anatomy and unlike certain medical practises we aim to use Fascia regarding strength and exercise home programmes – which ultimately aid in the loosening and removing pain.
We offer our “unique” BiOCORE exercises, stretches and various maintenance tools, as part of the programme. Thus strengthening and draining the fascia at the same time to improve agility and flexibility and allow for a stronger engaged core during increase difficulty in the exercise programme.
Testimonials:
We have a variety of testimonials on our website (www.cionewellnesscentre.com) that explain and discuss a wide range of pains and conditions.
Case study:
Through a study in Microbiology (by Niele Thiese in 2018) – we found Fascia dysfunctions impact on the fluid build-up around muscles and organs showing a fluid product capable of inflammation (Paniculosis) – but also as a shock absorber for all the bodies joints, and it’s through this knowledge that we at CiONE have great success in pain relief and removing inflammation by aiding and maintaining this fluid as a protective factor through strength work instead of allowing excess build up causing inflammation and pain.
Conclusion:
Overall, I believe there is a more than a detailed understanding of Fascias function and dysfunction throughout this article on the CiONE website, however we have added a “paper” too – published in May 2022, to give even further clarity.
It is through our “Methodology” of treatment that we can offer such a service mixing our “Eastern” practises (which we at CiONE lead and “pioneer”) and our Western medical science.
